Ruby has joined CCAT as a consultant to help manufacturers explore Industry 4.0 technologies to get a better handle on which advanced technologies can help streamline operations and increase productivity.
Describe your job function. What do you do?
I am an Industry 4.0 Initiative, Data Analytics and Machine Learning engineer.
What do you love most about your job?
I love working closely with the CCAT team and meeting partners and collaborators from academia and manufacturing. I like the challenging aspects of my job which is working with messy data.
Did you attend college? What was your major course of study?
I hold a Ph.D In Computer Science and Engineering from UConn. I earned both a Master of Computer Science and a Bachelor of Computer Science from the American University in Cairo.
How did you get here? Briefly describe your career history – where you have worked and how that led you to CCAT.
I am an associate professor of Software Engineering at Quinnipiac. I have also worked as an assistant professor in residence at UConn. Jackie Garofano, chief technology officer at CCAT introduced me to Joe Wysocki, director of manufacturing technology during my search for an industry-based sabbatical leave. Joe hired me to start working as a consultant for CCAT last summer.
What do you love to do outside of work?
I like to work out, go hiking, spend time with my family watching TV or playing games, and relaxing by the beach.
What do you most love about Connecticut?
I love the gorgeous greenery and amazing hikes.

My iPhone.

I am into K-drama and currently watching “Alchemy of the Souls.”

What advice would you give to your younger self or a young person just starting their career?
Do not take criticism too harshly, and believe in yourself.
